BAY MINETTE-- The College of Central Florida volleyball team is headed to the NJCAA National Tournament.
For the fourth time in five seasons, the Patriots clinched a spot in the national tournament after a year's absence with a sweep of Faulkner State (Ala.) in the District P Qualifier in Bay Minette, Ala., on Tuesday night.
CF, who finished third in the Region 8 Tournament on Sunday, was able to navigate through a tough road with two wins after a loss to Polk State on Saturday and then routed Faulkner to punch its ticket to nationals.
The national tournament will take place November 19-21 in Casper, WY.
With the win, CF improved to 26-12 season and completed a journey to nationals that saw them battle back from a 1-3 start.
The Patriots, who returned just one player from last year's team that lost in the third-place game at the state tournament, earned their fifth conference championship in as many seasons and improved to 37-3 all-time in conference play to set itself up for a chance at the national tournament.
