MADEIRA BEACH, FL - The College of Central Florida (CF) softball team experienced a challenging second weekend of the 2026 season at the JUCO Kickoff Classic.

Patriots Open Kickoff Classic with Convincing Win over Air Force

The classic began on a high note on January 30 with an 8-4 victory over the Air Force Academy. The Patriots' offense was efficient, tallying eight runs on nine hits.

• Offensive Leaders: Payton Livingston and Tiara Chavis each contributed hits and runs to the winning effort, while Sam Albert and Hope Jordan also crossed the plate.

• On the Mound: Olivia Douglas earned the start, providing five strong innings and allowing only two unearned runs while striking out three. Tiara Chavis closed the game, adding two strikeouts over the final two frames.

Pensacola State Powers Past CF

Later that same day, the Patriots faced a tough Pensacola State squad, falling 9-3. Despite the loss, the game featured a standout relief performance from the pitching staff.

• Key Highlights: Madison McCabe led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, while Payton Livingston added a double.

• Pitching: Although the team struggled to contain Pensacola's 11-hit attack, Tiara Chavis was a bright spot in relief, striking out eight batters in just three and a third innings of work.

Saturday Games vs teams from Georgia and Tennessee

On January 31, the Patriots played a doubleheader against Georgia Military College and Walters State, finding it difficult to keep pace with high-scoring opponents.

Georgia Military College 12, CF 4 In the first game of the day, Georgia Military College used a seven-run first inning to take an early lead the Patriots could not overcome, resulting in a 12-4 loss.

• Offensive Effort: CF managed five hits, with Abbie Roach, Hope Jordan, and Tiara Chavis all recording singles. Payton Livingston also reached base twice, contributing a hit and a run.

Walters State 11, CF 4 The weekend concluded with an 11-4 defeat at the hands of Walters State. Despite the final score, the Patriots showed resilience with several extra-base hits.

• Power Display: Abbie Roach provided the highlight of the game with a home run in the fourth inning. Madison McCabe added a double, and Hope Jordan finished with a multi-hit game, going 2-for-3.

• Pitching: Tiara Chavis took the circle for a complete-game effort, throwing seven innings and striking out five.

While the Patriots showcased power at the plate and flashes of dominance on the mound, they ultimately finished the weekend 1-3. The Patriots will look to bounce back as they play NJCAA Division II powerhouse St Johns River State College on Tuesday, February 10th in Palatka for a doubleheader starting at 2 PM.
