CF Softball Splits Doubleheader at Tallahassee

In a tale of two vastly different games, the College of Central Florida and Tallahassee State College split a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday, February 18, 2026. Both contests ended in five-inning run-rule decisions, with each team dominating once on the scoreboard.

Game 1: Patriots Dominate in Shutout Victory

The College of Central Florida opened the day with a statement, dismantling Tallahassee State 10-0 in just five innings. The Patriots' offense ignited early and never cooled off, while the pitching staff combined for a dominant two-hit shutout.

CF jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and broke the game open with a four-run second. Payton Livingston was the catalyst for the offense, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and scoring four runs. Hope Jordan and Tiara Chavis provided the power, each driving in three runs. Chavis helped her own cause significantly; in addition to her production at the plate, she earned the win in the circle (4-1), tossing four dominant innings with seven strikeouts and allowing just one hit.

The Patriots added insurance runs in the third and fifth innings to reach double digits. Madison McCabe also contributed two RBIs, and Abbie Roach finished with a multi-hit game as CF racked up 10 hits.

Game 2: Tallahassee State Answers with Explosive Offense

The momentum shifted entirely in the nightcap as Tallahassee State flipped the script, handing the Patriots a 14-2 defeat. The TSC offense came alive for 14 hits, scoring early and often to force another five-inning conclusion.

Tallahassee State wasted no time, plating three runs in the first and exploding for seven runs in the second inning to take a commanding 10-0 lead. The Patriots struggled to find an answer for the TSC onslaught.

The bright spot for CF came in the top of the fifth inning when they finally broke through to score a pair of runs. Hope Jordan launched a solo home run, her standout moment of the doubleheader, and Naomi Meyer added an RBI on a sacrifice to provide the Patriots' only runs. Despite the late effort, the deficit was too large to overcome.

Looking Ahead

Following the split, the College of Central Florida moves to a 7-5 record on the season. The Patriots will begin Citrus Conference play next Tuesday when they travel to Hillsborough for a doubleheader starting at 4 pm.
