The Patriots hosted the Santa Fe Saints for a conference doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. Central Florida got off to a 2-1 lead in the first inning after Gabrielle Rascher singled in a run and Amber Daugherty sac flied in another one. Santa Fe responded in the next inning with three runs to take the lead on a Sarah Stewart home run.
Morgyn Stevens started for CF and got hit around by the Saints. She gave up nine runs on 10 hits over four and one-third innings. She struck out two and walked four.
In Game two the Pats kept it close and had chances to win in extras, but a big six-run inning for the Saints in the 9th sealed their fate.
The Lady Pats once again got off to a lead in the first inning. Madison VanAllen doubled in two runs and Amber Daugherty drove in their third run on a fielder's choice.
The Saints got back into the game with two runs in the sixth to tie it up at three a piece. Madi Conway hit a solo home run and Olivia LaMeau drove in another run with a base hit.
VanAllen gave the Pats a quality start in the circle and led the way at the plate. She went six and two-thirds innings and allowed just three runs on eight hits while striking out three and walking three. Offensively she went 3-5 with two RBI, a double and a run scored.
The College of Central Florida Patriots fall to 22-28 on the year and 12-22 in Citrus Conference play.
