Palm Beach State snaps Patriots homecourt winning streak

It's over.

The nation's longest homecourt winning streak came to an end on Sunday night, as the College of Central Florida was unable to produce on the offensive end when it counted.
The Patriots were hit with an 18-1 run late in the second half and fell to Palm Beach State 64-62 in the Florida Men's Colleges Shootout.

The loss snapped a 33-game homecourt winning streak for CF (12-3), which last lost at Patriot Gym on December 9, 2011 against Pensacola State.

On its way to seeing its streak ended, CF went a span of 12 minutes and 38 seconds without a field goal after it took its biggest lead of the game at 46-38 with 14:20 remaining.
The Panthers (11-3) also kept the Patriots scoreless for the next 10 minutes, but a quick 5-0 burst by CF made the score 56-51 with 1:38 left.

CF, though, saw Jason Pimentel score on a layup and Bobby Conley hit a pair of free throws, which gave Palm Beach a nine-point lead with 37.1 seconds.

Rasham Suarez, who set a career-high with seven 3-pointers on the night, buried a pair of shots from beyond the arc, hit three over the final 19.7 seconds, including two that got the Patriots to within 62-59 with 12.3 seconds left.

Palm Beach, which has an entire new roster from a year ago, got a free throw from Elijan Mays with 10.9 seconds remaining to push its edge to 63-59.

After CF missed on its next trip, Pimentel knocked down a free throws and Suarez nailed a 3-pointer as time expired for the final margin.Suarez finished with 28 points, aided by his 7-of-16 effort from 3-point range. The seven three pointers were one more than he hit last season against Hillsborough last December.

Overall, the Patriots made 9-of-28 shots from 3-point range, but struggled to a 21-of-67 overall shooting effort.

Rodell Wigginton backed Suarez with 11 points and seven rebounds. Chris Bryant contributed nine points and 11 rebounds for CF and Javonte Douglas grabbed seven rebounds.
Jarrel Marshall led Palm Beach with 14 points. Pimentel, Conley and West contributed 11 points each for the Panthers.
