The Patriots bats went quiet in their 5-2 loss to the Buccaneers of Florida Southwestern State College on Saturday in the FCSAA/NJCAA Region 8 Final Four. CF could only muster three hits off of the two pitchers from the #1 seeded Bucs. Cole Greer started for FSW and threw six innings allowing three hits, two runs, with four strikeouts. Nick Lorenz earned the save by no hitting the Pats over the final three innings with three strikeouts. Brayden Toro pitched well for CF with an eight inning complete game allowing five runs (two earned), walking one and striking out four.
FSW centerfielder, Devin Parks had the only extra base hit of the game for either team when he led off the bottom of the fifth inning with a solo home run. CF's Miles Curley went 2 for 2 with an RBI and Logan Chapman added an RBI single in the third inning. The Patriots, with the loss, must now face Gulf Coast State College on Sunday morning in an elimination game. CF beat Gulf Coast 5-2 on Friday in game one. Gulf Coast defeated the State College of Florida - Manatee 7-6 on Saturday afternoon to eliminate SCF and stay alive. The winner of the Gulf Coast State College/College of Central Florida game must defeat Florida Southwestern State College twice to win the title and move on to the JUCO World series.
