OCALA--College of Central Florida baseball pitchers Nate Pearson and Richie Cruz combined for 13 strikeouts in 11-2 rout of Florida State College at Jacksonville on Monday afternoon in Jacksonville.

The Patriots, now 4-4 in Mid-Florida Conference play, exploded out of the gate, plating seven runs in the first inning.

Freshman Steven Lugo kicked things off with a leadoff homerun. A walk and a pair of singles loaded the bases for David Flores. Flores singled in Christian Smallwood and Will Reddick to put CF up 3-0. A double by Vinny Adonna and a pair of singles from Ricardo Jimenez and Blake Marabell rounded out the first-inning surge.

CF went on to score four more runs in the second and third innings and combined for 13 hits on the day.
