OCALA-- The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team fell to conference opponent Polk State College on the road in Winter Haven on Tuesday night.
The Lady Patriots (14-12, 2-3 MFC) led NJCAA No. 6 Eagles 24-19 in the first set, but Polk capitalized on CF errors to go on a 7-0 run and rally past the Patriots 26-24. Polk would go on to take the next two sets 25-19 each to sweep CF 3-0 for the first time this season. The previous meeting between both teams on September 27 went three hours where Polk rallied to defeat CF in five sets.
Middle blocker Veronica Brod Farias led all scorers with seven kills on the night, while recording six digs and three total blocks. Carolin Santa added five kills. Libero Yomaries Villegas and outside hitter Marina Cruz each dug out a team high 13 digs, while setter Maria Idjilov recorded 12 digs and dished out 19 assists.
CF will host its final home and conference match of the season on Thursday at 7 p.m. versus Eastern Florida State College. The Lady Patriots will honor its four sophomores in a short ceremony prior to the start of the match.
