OCALA-- College of Central Florida outside hitter Buse Ene was named FCSAA Volleyball Player of the Week for her play during the week of October 2-8.
Ene, a sophomore from Istanbul, Turkey, averaged 4.0 kills and 2.9 digs per set over three matches while leading the Lady Patriots to a 2-1 record. She recorded two, double-digit kill matches against Eastern Florida (15) and Santa Fe (11) and notched her second double-double of the season against Eastern Florida (15 kills, 11 digs).
Ene had a stand-out performance on Tuesday night as she led the Lady Patriots to a 3-2 victory over conference rival Daytona State College. She recorded a career-high 22 kills and 20 digs, good for her third double-double of the season.
Tuesday night's win over Daytona sets up a pivotal conference showdown against Polk State College. CF hosts the Eagles on Thursday evening at 7 p.m. Winner will gain sole possession of first place in the Mid-Florida Conference, which will be key to clinching a state tournament spot down the line. The first place team in the Mid-Florida Conference at the end of the regular season will automatically clinch the MFC No. 1 seed in the state tournament. MFC No. 2, 3 and 4 finishers will battle it out in a playoff to see who will clinch the second and final state tournament spot for the Mid-Florida Conference.
