OCALA--NJCAA No. 19 College of Central Florida women's volleyball team rallied past No. 12 Daytona State College to defeat the Falcons 3-2 on Tuesday night at Patriot Gym.
CF (12-6) improved to 2-0 on the season against DSC and 4-1 in the Mid-Florida Conference after the win. The Patriots are now tied for first place in the conference with Polk State College, who travels to Ocala on Thursday for a conference showdown.
CF dropped the first set 24-26, but rallied to pick up back-to-back set wins (27-25, 25-17) to move ahead of DSC 2-1.
Daytona countered with a 25-17 fourth set to send it to a fifth and final set.
CF rallied back from 6-10 to defeat the Falcons 15-12 off Buse Ene's career-best 22nd kill of the night. Ene finished the night with 22 kills and 20 digs, her third double-double of the year.
Ene was named FCSAA Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon for her play October 2-8. She recorded double-digit kills against Eastern Florida State College (15) and Santa Fe College (11), while recording a .518 hitting percentage over three matches.
CF will be back in action on Thursday when they host Polk State at 7 p.m. Winner will move into sole possession of first place in the conference.
Thursday's match will be dedicated to those affected by Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, including several players and head coach Angel Gonzalez's families. All admission and donations at the door will be delivered to families in Puerto Rico to help with relief efforts.
