OCALA--The College of Central Florida women's volleyball team finished conference play undefeated after defeating rival Santa Fe College in straight sets on Tuesday evening at Patriot Gym.
CF, ranked No. 1 in the state and No. 5 in the nation, fell behind early in the first two sets before rallying to defeat the Saints 25-16, 25-20, 25-19 and finish a perfect 10-0 in the Mid-Florida Conference. The Lady Patriots only dropped four sets throughout conference play and have officially clinched the Mid-Florida Conference No. 1 seed for the upcoming FCSAA State Volleyball Championship in Bradenton.
Last night's match was a special one as the ladies hosted their Dig Pink match in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All proceeds from the match was donated to help a former CF athlete's mom and her current fight against breast cancer.
Outside hitter Buse Ene led the Patriot attack with 15 kills and added three block assists, while Rafaela Fonseca recorded her seventh double-double of the season (10 kills, 16 digs), and Alyssa Gage had seven kills. All-American setter Nathaly Alvarez totaled 40 assists on the night.
CF returns to the court on Thursday against Pasco-Hernando State College for their final home game of the season. The Lady Patriots will honor their five sophomores before their final home game as a Patriot.
